先日、高齢のご老人と碁会所で対戦したのだが、「王電できました」といわれて、しばし考えたのだが、これが王子電鉄、いまの都電荒川線と気づいた。この荒川線、美濃部都知事に滅ぼされた路面電車の唯一の生き残りという事は有名だが、いまいち便利じゃない。一方の終点・早稲田から延伸して飯田橋、水道橋、御茶ノ水下、上野、三ノ輪と環状になればおもしろい。利用者もかなりふえるだろう。架電が煩わしいのだが、電池を内蔵するなりして克服できるだろう。エコ電車の復権があっていい。
